A lot has happened over the last year and the credit crunch has affected us all. You’ll be glad to hear that we’re moving with the times too!

We’ll soon be launching a new Tradingeye site, a new Tradingeye Themes site as well as a new support centre and forum!

- Would you like your site, or customer’s site in the showcase? We have tens of thousands of unique visitors a month and all previous showcase sites have shown a large increase in visitors and of course sales!

- We’re launching a Tradingeye Themes site and we’re looking for our designer community to contribute. Lots of businesses are moving online to keep up with technology, but they don’t yet want to spend thousands. With a few generic themes you’ll be able to not only help out those customers but also make some nice regular income.

- Any testimonials (or even gripes?) with Tradingeye? We’re here because we listened to the web designer community and retailers. We want to hear you success stories, and we want to stop those little niggles. We want your feedback and we’ll use it.

We’re exited by the changes and hope you are too!

Yours truly,

The Tradingeye Team

.net magazine CMS site of the month

Selecting the right ecommerce platform can be quite a difficult task. There are so many possibilities, all with their own quirks, (sometimes bloated) feature sets and workflows for implementation, which is why Tradingeye (tradingeye.com) really stands out and Ten Little Monkeys (tenlittlemonkeys.co.uk) is our CMS site of the month.

The site sells designer clothing, gifts and accessories for kids, and was designed and developed by Darren Alawi (darrenalawi.com).

“I needed a PHP platform that was highly customisable and allowed me to hand code the front end”, he explains. Al tough it isn’t free to run Tradingeye – you’ll need to purchase a license – they offer discounts if you buy in bulk, and the support that’s provided makes the cost worth it, says Darren.

“The structure of the site was perfect was well, quite similar to WordPress (wordpress.org) in the way you edit the template files, plus there’s a growing community to discuss issues with.”

New platform, new design, new features.

http://forum.tradingeye.com/

Based on myBB, the new Tradingeye forum offers the community a great place to discuss all things Tradingeye.

A huge thanks goes out to one of our forum admins, Jordan Smith http://forum.tradingeye.com/user-960.html for having generously offered to perform the work for our members and our team.

Jordan has been a huge help and you can find a few questions we asked him
below:

1)	Can you tell us a little about your company?
Jet Hosts – Lightning fast web solutions (www.jethosts.co.uk). I am a web designer and a Server Administrator and of course a Tradingeye forum admin!

2)	What made you chose Tradingeye?
Tradingeye is a great e-commerce platform both for me as a designer but also for my clients. All the design can be done via the CSS and the admin panel is intuitive. The SEO and marketing features are also a joy to work with.

3)	Why another forum?
The previous Tradingeye forum was running www.vbulletin.com which was very bloated and not standards friendly not to mention the growing numbers of spammers! The Tradingeye community has over 12,000 members now so it was time for a change. I put the idea to Tradingeye to use www.mybb.com as I had previous experience with this platform and they agreed.

4)	Can you describe the work you did?
Firstly the new forum hot to be setup then we performed the data migration.
All threads, posts and members had to be seamlessly ported over to the new platform. Once this had been done I re-skinned the theme, installed a few plugins such as www.stopforumspam.com and voila!

Tell us a little about your company?

The Natural Remedy Company is exactly that! We sell a range of natural, herbal & homeopathic remedies & products for many ailments & conditions. The remedies you’ll find here are 100% natural, contain no artificial ingredients & are all designed to work with the body in healing itself.

We currently sell a range from Native Remedies & under our own label BioTech Healing which will soon be re-branded to “The Natural Remedy Company”

Why did you choose Tradingeye as your ecommerce platform?

Tradingeye was recommended to us by our web design company, FCS Websites. We wanted a system that is easy for us to use and Tradingeye has a great control panel. It was also important for our site to be visible to search engines and Tradingeye has good optimisation features and search engine friendly code.

Could you please let us know about your project?

The Natural Remedy Company is a place where anyone can buy natural remedies for many common & not so common ailments & conditions. Many people are aware of using alternative medicine for things now-a-days but often are overwhelmed as to where to go & lack the knowledge as to what they might need. The Natural Remedy Company not only sells a range of such products but we also have an in-house expert who can be contacted for individual advice who is a qualified homeopath & nutritional therapist. The requirement for the site design was that it should be predominantly user friendly, simple to navigate & easy to use.

Do you have any future plans for the site?

At the moment we sell two ranges but are looking into expanding this over time. We are currently adding to our own range of supplements on the site & are also in the process of developing our own range of aromatherapy creams/lotions as well as a mummy & baby range.

Why did you choose Tradingeye as your ecommerce platform?

Tradingeye was recommended to us by a Komodo. I wanted the site to be built with the creativity that I knew Komodo could deliver, using a system that is user friendly. The usability of Tradingeye impressed me right from the start and the online demos were very helpful, setting it apart from the competition.

Could you please let us know about your project?

Love It Love It Love It is a boutique for clothes to fit kids aged 0-5. The main theme of the clothes we sell is that they are brightly coloured, comfortable and full of character. This is great for the kids because they’re stimulating but allow freedom of movement, and for the parents because the clothes are easy to care for, and last for ages. The requirement for the site design was that it should be friendly, colourful and stylish.

Do you have any future plans for the site?

At the moment the site only sells clothes. The range will be expanded for next season, and the core range will be added to with home decor, bedding and own brand clothes in time.

Why did you choose Tradingeye as your ecommerce platform?

Tradingeye was recommended to us by a creative design and developer we approached called Lunaria. We wanted Redblugraphics.co.uk to be a site we could manage ourselves once it was live and to be search engine friendly. The usability of Tradingeye impressed me right from the start and the online demos were very helpful, setting it apart from the competition. Also being based in Newcastle it made us feel very comfortable dealing with a company based locally.

Could you please let us know about your project?

I spent months researching the best system to use and decided to run with Lunaria. The team there were fantastically helpful, David Eccles was forever answering queries at stupid o’clock which suited me well being busy running the business during the day. From initial design it was just a matter of working out the departments and best practise for describing the products.

The most time consuming part was adding products into Tradingeye so the designers could work the visuals around the dynamic format of the website.

Although we decided we did not want to put the payment gateway in at the start I am sure we be adding this function in the near future.

Wordpress was also added for blogging and news.

Do you have any future plans for the site?

We’ll be adding many new products, we will tailor the content and add departments based upon google analytics data and comments from users.

Do you have anything else you would like to share?

First class system and we are delighted with the project. I can’t thank Lunaria enough for their customer service which is “above and beyond” and the value they offer is fantastic. I highly recommend Tradingeye to others. There are a few small things that could be improved, an integrated fully functioning emarketing package like constant contact, a way to automatically globally add products into a department with price but I am sure Wlad and his team will be working on these in the future!

Tell us a little about your company.

Ruby Loves Red is an online gift store that focuses on the best handmade and printed products made by talented designers and crafts people. Owned by artist Sandra Cassidy (and designed and built by her web designer husband Danny Cassidy) the shop has been born out of a love for all things cute, quirky and original hence ‘Gifts With Character’.

Why did you choose Tradingeye as your ecommerce platform?

Site designer Danny Cassidy explains, “I was initially attracted to Tradingeye because its accessibility/compliance features. As a web designer I’m a big fan of content management systems that output well structured, clean HTML and Tradingeye seemed to do this very well. From a functionality point of view Tradingeye’s feature list offers incredible value for money. We also liked the idea of having a dedicated support team available if there should be any technical glitches along the way.”

Could you please let us know about your project?

Ruby Loves Red was originally developed as a blog at the start of 2009. After a while we added a simple Paypal shopping cart then quickly realised that if we wanted to grow the business then we would need an integrated shopping cart and that’s when we selected Tradingeye. From design concept to launch took around three months although a significant proportion of that time was spend collating content.

Do you have any future plans for the site?

It’s still early days for the site but we’re confident that the hard work we’ve put in from the social media and blogging side of things will translate into sales on the new site. We’re particularly keen to implement alternative ways displaying products on the home page, perhaps using Jquery. We’re also really excited about using Tradingeye’s reporting features as a way of obtaining valuable marketing information about customers and product lines.

Do you have anything else you would like to share?

Tradingeye packs some incredibly powerful features considering it’s a reasonably priced off the shelf package and we’re looking forward to exploring all its potential as our business grows and develops.

Design and web development experts Smashingmagazine www.smashingmagazine.com has trawled the internet in search for some of the best e-commerce websites around.

Keeping an eye out for sites that are attractive, simple and easy to navigate, it has selected the top 35 sites that tick all of its boxes.

And one of our Tradingeye powered sites, Ten Little Monkeys www.tenlittlemonkeys.co.uk, designed by Darren Alawi www.darrenalawi.com, has made it onto the bill.

The judges said: “This design has a very strong visual appeal; vibrant colours work well on the dark background, the navigation is colourful yet intuitive – notice how the section for girls and boys are distinguished.

“Also, the choice of typography is appropriate for the shop’s main objective: selling branded children’s fashion and gifts.”
